Recreational Activities
Venango College of Clarion University offers a variety of challenging outdoor as well as more leisure oriented activities as services to our student population. Everything from white water rafting, thrill seeking zip lines to canoeing/kayaking and mountain biking are all available. New suggestions or adventures are always welcome!
Highlights to the Spring 2013 Schedule
Skiing
The Venango College Ski Club sponsors two campus ski trips. A night ski and an all day ski trip to Peek N Peak Ski area in New York are planned during the spring semester. Snow tubing is also an option to Mt. Pleasant located in Edinboro, PA. All trips are subject to change or rescheduling, pending weather conditions.
Splash Lagoon Indoor Water Park Resort
The most popular recreational activities is our semester trips to Erie, PA, to Splash Lagoon Water Park. Students, faculty, staff and our families are all invited to enjoy the afternoon at the resort. A variety of (extreme, wild, and easy) slides, a lazy river, kid’s zone, and food is available during the trip. The new wave pool has added an additional attraction!
Lower Yough White Water Rafting
Whether this is your first whitewater rafting trip or you're an experienced rafter, the Lower Yough (pronounced "Yok"), in the heart of The Laurel Highlands a blast!! The Lower Yough is Class III whitewater which means it is fun. It's perfect for those who haven't had prior whitewater experience or for those who have.
Tough Mudder
Our Venango College Veterans Club and Fitness Club are sponsoring our first annual trip to the Tough Mudder. It is the premier adventure challenge series in the world. Tough Mudder events are hardcore 10-12 mile obstacle courses designed by British Special Forces to test your all around strength, stamina, mental grit, and camaraderie. With the most innovative courses, half a million inspiring participants, and more than $3 million raised for the Wounded Warrior Project,
Horseback Riding
The 600 – acre Flying W Ranch is nestled in the peaceful Allegheny Mountains along the 500,000 – acre Allegheny National Forest. You will see some of the most spectacular scenery anywhere during the guided trail ride.
