Should I tell my heirs about my intended gift?
We think that if you do, you encourage greater understanding and appreciation of your reasons for making the gift. Clearly you will want to consider family needs first. Usually a donor has already provided for them prior to considering a charitable bequest.

Would you like to know that I am planning to include Clarion in my estate plans?
Yes. We will treat this information in a confidential manner. We can also suggest ways for your bequest commitment to accomplish the specific charitable goal you have in mind.

How do I go about making a charitable bequest?
Donors who plan to include us in their estate plans should consult with an attorney to create a will that takes into account provisions for relatives or friends, tax considerations, and charitable objectives. If you already have an up-to-date will, a codicil to your will can be used to make additional bequests.

Is assistance available to help me make a charitable gift?
Yes. We would like to be part of the initial planning session to make suggestions on the best way to include a charitable gift to the university in your plans. We can also help develop guidelines to ensure your gift will be used exactly as you wish.
