Local Calls
Dial 9 + number. Local exchanges are Clarion (221, 223, 226, 227, 229, 297, 298, 316, 319, 393, 538, 609, 699, 828, 902), Knox (797, 992), Leeper (744, 917), Shippenville (782, 918), Sligo (681, 745) and Strattanville (764, 980).
Long Distance Calls
University Business Only. Dial 9 + 1, dial area code (814 included) + number. DO NOT accept collect calls. DO NOT make third-party calls charged to your university number.
International Calls
University Business Only. Dial 9 + 011 + country code + city code + number.
Long Distance Personal Calls
Dial 9 + 0 + area code (including 814) + seven digit number. After the computer tone, dial your personal credit card number. If you don't have a personal credit card, wait for the outside operator to answer and place the call collect or bill to your home phone number.
If using a calling card, dial 9 and follow the instructions on your card.
Special Phone Features for Analog Phones
Transfer Calls
To transfer a call, press the switch-hook or flash button, listen for a dial tone, dial desired party, announce transfer, and hang up.
Conference Calls
Call the first party, depress switch-hook or flash and listen for dial tone. Dial 2nd party, you can talk before including the original caller, depress switch-hook or flash, and begin conversation. Analog phones can have up to 3 parties and Digital phones can have up to six parties.
To Consult
Put the first caller on hold by depressing the switch-hook or flash and dial desired party. When finished consulting, depress the switch-hook or flash once and resume original conversation.
Call Forwarding
Lift handset, hear dial tone, dial #1, hear dial tone, dial the number where your calls are being forwarded to, hang up.
Cancel Call Forwarding
Listen for dial tone, dial #1, hang up. Call forwarding is canceled.
Special Phone Features Digital Phone
Digital telephone users should consult their telephone manuals for feature instructions.
Digital telephone users can conference up to six parties.
