Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Student Teaching Agreement
Clarion students may student teach during the second half of the semester in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., WITHOUT having to pay extra fees. An agreement with the Broward Count Public School District, based in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., provides the opportunity to Clarion students to teach in the Nova Group of public schools. This group includes 2 elementary schools, 1 middle school, 1 high school, and one technical high school, all on the same campus and located next to the campus of Nova Southeastern University. Extra costs for students include travel, room and board.

Placement begins by the beginning of the 10th week of each semester and lasts for a minimum of 6 weeks.

Broward County hires 2000+ teachers each year.

This district is one of the largest school districts in the country.

They host student teachers from universities above and return it to 102 Stevens Hall.

Interest forms for Florida placements are due in 102 Stevens Hall by the end of the fourth week of the semester BEFORE the students teaching semester. The earlier the interest form is received, the better chance the student has to receive the Florida placement.

Please print out, complete and return this form to the Office of Field Services as soon as you determine that you want to student teach the second half of your semester outside Pennsylvania. The sooner we receive this information, the better chance you have of eventually being placed outside Pennsylvania. -

Student Teaching →International Placement
The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) does permit students to complete one of their two student teaching placements outside of Pennsylvania and still receive the state teacher certification.
To do this, student teachers must successfully complete the first eight-week placement in Pennsylvania in order to complete the second placement either out-of-state or internationally.
Clarion University works with the University of Northern Iowa for out-of-state and international student teaching. Application packets must be completed online through the UNI website, printed out, and submitted to the Office of Field Services by these dates:.
In the University of Northern Iowa (UNI) Website, click on "non-UNI students" and complete all forms listed there. E-mail all completed forms to Dr. Leigh Martin. Print and deliver to the OFS, 102 Stevens Hall, all forms and required information.

The UNI fee, as of May 4, 2010, is $1,500. A non-refundable check made payable to the University of Northern Iowa for $750 must be submitted with all application forms through the Office of Field Services. The remaining fee of $750 is payable directly to the University of Northern Iowa when the placement has been secured.
Applications MUST be received in the Office of Field Services by the dates listed below for the UNI placements.
