Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Student Teaching Agreement

Clarion teacher candidates may student teach during the second half of the semester in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., WITHOUT having to pay extra fees.  An agreement with the Broward Count Public School District, based in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., provides the opportunity to Clarion teacher candidates to teach in the Nova Group of public schools. This group includes 2 elementary schools, 1 middle school, 1 high school, and one technical high school, all on the same campus and located next to the campus of Nova Southeastern University. Here are the basics:

  • Extra costs for students include travel, room and board.

  • Placement begins by the beginning of the 10th week of each semester and lasts for a minimum of 6 weeks.

  • Contacts are provided to help students find housing.

  • Broward County hires 2000+ teachers each year.

  • This district is one of the largest school districts in the country.

  • They host teacher candidates from universities above and return it to 102 Stevens Hall.

  • Interest forms for Florida placements are due in 102 Stevens Hall by the end of the fourth week of the semester BEFORE the students teaching semester. The earlier the interest form is received, the better chance the teacher candidate has to receive the Florida placement.
