Switching to the new Microsoft Exchange environment provides faculty and staff an improved
and much more versitile e-mail and calendaring system with several benefits -- some will be
available immediately, while others will be implemented over time as new features are added
to the service. These are some of the main benefits of Exchange:
Integrated e-mail, tasks, and calendaring. Exchange allows you to respond to meeting Invitations
and tasks automatically through your Outlook or Entourage Inbox.
Improved remote access to e-mail. The Web-based user interface (Outlook Web Access, or OWA)
is easier to use and provides greater functionality than iClarion Webmail. OWA allows you to view
and modify your calendar, contacts, and tasks from the same interface.
For mobile device users, any device with ActiveSync capabilities will be able to synchronize with
Exchange for e-mail, calendar and contacts.
A more robust contacts interface that provides ubiquitous access to a centralized address book.
High availability and prevention of data loss in the event of a system or hardware failure.
