Degree Conferral and ARRT Credentialing Examination Eligibility
Following completion of general education course work at Venango Campus and appropriate clinical course work, Clarion University will award the student the Bachelor of Science degree with a major in medical imaging and a concentration in either radiologic technology or ultrasound.
The radiologic technology concentration prepares graduates to sit for the national credentialing examination in radiography administered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. The ultrasound concentration prepares graduates to sit for the national certification examination(s) in administered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers.
Professional and Specialization Opportunities for Radiologic Technology Graduates
After attaining the status of registered radiologic technologist, graduates may diversify into specialty areas of the medical imaging sciences such as magnetic resonance imaging, radiation therapy, nuclear medicine, ultrasonography, computed tomography, mammography, administration, education, and medical sales. Careers in some specialty areas can be attained through on-the-job training and some through additional formal schooling. Currently, Clarion University does not offer educational programs in specialty areas of the medical imaging sciences other than ultrasound.
