Q: What is D2L?
A: D2L is short for Desire2Learn, the Learning Management System used at all PASSHE schools.
Q: How do I login to D2L?
A: The login URL is: http://www.clarion.edu/135281/. To login, enter your Clarion username (s_fmlast@clarion.edu) and password. This is the same username and password used to login to MyClarion, campus computer labs, etc.
Q: Why am I unable to login?
A: If you are a new student, you may need to reset your password. You can find instructions at the following link: http://www.clarion.edu/172364/.
If you are a returning student, but your password has expired, you must contact the Help Desk at 855-203-5112 toll free or 814-393-2640 in order to reset your password.
Q: Where can I go for help with D2L?
A: The Student D2L Orientation Site provides detailed information on the aspects of using D2L. If your question is not answered by the D2L Orientation documentation,  you can contact the 24x7 D2L helpdesk number for assistance at 855-203-5112.
Q: Can I reorganize the My Courses area on the My Home Page?
A: There is no way to reorganize the courses in the My Courses area. However, you can minimize converted courses along with previously taught courses to make the My Courses area more manageable. To do this, simply click the gray box with the two arrows next to the courses you want to "hide."
Q: How do I access course content/documents?
A: After logging into D2L, you will see an item which says "My Courses" on the right-hand side of your browser. Simply click the name of the course. This will take you to the course homepage. To access documents, click on "Content" which is located in the upper portion of the page.
Q: Is there training available for students?
A: No. At this time there is no training planned for students. Training is limited to faculty and staff. For more information on how to use D2L, please visit the Orientation Page to find information on using D2L.

Course Questions

Q: I can't see my course. How come?
A: 1. If you are looking for your course prior to the start-date of the semester, your professor may not have made the course available to students yet. Please contact your professor to determine if he or she is using D2L if you are concerned.
2. If you are in a face-to-face class, your professor may choose not to use D2L. This information will be provided to you by the professor in class or through the syllabus. Any questions should be directed to your professor.
3. Your professor may have unknowingly kept the course inactive. If you are enrolled in the course through MyClarion, but do not see the course in D2L, and the course has already started, contact your professor.
4. If you registered late, you may need to be added manually to the course. Confirm with the registrar that you are enrolled in the course, and then contact your professor to be added to the course.
5. You might have the My Course area minimized. Locate the grey box with two arrows pointing downwards. Click it, so the arrows are now pointed upwards. Your courses should show. If your arrows are pointed upwards and you cannot see your course, this is not your solution.

Q: How do I use the discussion area?
A: Information detailing how to use the discussion area can be found here: http://www.clarion.edu/172416/

Dropbox

Q: Is there a limit on file size?
A: No. However, if you are on a slower connection, you are more likely to time out while uploading. If your file is large (Such as a full sized art image, or a narrated powerpoint) consider compressing or downsizing the item. There are some programs which will allow files to be compressed which can be found online.

Quizzes

Q: How do I take a quiz through D2L?
A: Instructions on how to take quizzes can be found here: http://www.clarion.edu/172458/
* Please note: It is recommended that you save each question after answering. This will ensure that if you get locked out of the quiz, your progress is saved in the D2L system that you may continue.
Q: My power went out, or I navigated away from a quiz and I am now locked out. How do I finish the quiz?
A: If your professor allows you to take the test multiple times to score the highest grade, you should be fine. Just restart the quiz. However, this is not always the case. Assuming that you have been saving questions as you finish them, your professor will be able to go into the quiz area of D2L and view your attempt. (If you have not, your professor will see that you accessed the quiz, but it will not show that you made any progress.) This will show when the last question that you answered was saved. Your professor will decide how to handle the situation. If your professor has any problems finding this information, ask them to contact the Learning Technology Center.
Q: I finished my quiz and I can't see my grade.
A: If your grade is not displayed directly after you finish the test, it may be that your professor does not have it set up to automatically display the grade. Check your grades area, as it may show there. If it is not in either place, your professor has certain settings in place which do not show the grades. Contact your professor about changing these settings.

Groups

Q: How do I know who's in my group?

Clicking on that number will bring up a dialogue box which will reveal the names of the users in your group. to contact these users, you can access the classlist to view their emails.
