A one-night-only staged reading of "8." The play, written by Academy Award-winning screenwriter Dustin Lance Black, chronicles the historic trial in the federal constitutional challenge to California's Proposition 8. On election day 2008, Proposition 8 re-wrote the California state constitution to ban marriage for gay and lesbian citizens. In response, two couples filed suit against Proposition 8 in Federal Court. Representing them were Ted Olson and David Boies, most famous for representing opposing sides in Bush v. Gore. Contained in 8, are the words, the witnesses, the testimony and the trial that proponents of Proposition 8 fought so hard to keep from public view.
