Pennsylvania State Senate officially confirmed two new trustees for Clarion University’s Council of Trustees Oct. 1.
Milissa S. Bauer, Clarion, and Randy P. Seitz, Franklin, were appointed by Gov. Tom Corbett to replace Ross Cioppa and Larry Pickett, respectively.
Milissa Bauer is executive vice president and chief financial officer for The Kriebel Companies, one of the state’s largest independent natural gas producers. A 1984 Clarion University alumna with a bachelor’s degree in accounting, Bauer also serves as secretary and treasurer of the Pennsylvania Producers Service Company of the PA Independent Oil and Gas Association; as director and chairperson of The Children’s Scholarship Fund of Pennsylvania; treasurer of Clarion County YMCA; secretary of Clarion River Valley Strikers Board; and as a member of the Immaculate Conception School Advisory Board.
Randy Seitz is president and chief executive officer of Penn-Northwest Development Corporation in Mercer County. A 19-year veteran of community and economic development, Seitz serves as a board member of Franklin Area School District and is chairman of the district’s Finance and Budget Committee and Long-Range Planning Committee; chief volunteer officer of the Corporate Board of Directors of the Franklin/Grove City YMCA; board member of the Governor’s Council on Rural Affairs; and as a member of the Joint Operating Committee of the Venango Technology Center. Seitz is a 2009 Clarion alumnus with a Master of Business Administration degree.
Clarion University Council of Trustees includes 10 members, including Bauer and Seitz, who are appointed by the governor of Pennsylvania with the consent of the senate, and one student member. The powers and duties of the council include the establishment of academic programs and schools for consideration by the board of governors; review and approval of annual operating and capital budgets, fees, purchases and contracts; participation in university and system-wide strategic planning; review and approval of policies and procedures governing the use of university facilities and property; annual inspection of university facilities; and the annual evaluation of the president.
