Clarion University professor of music Dr. P. Brent Register recently published two original musical compositions.
Written in 2008 as the keynote at the Creativity and Thought conference for the Honors Program of Long Island University, Register’s “Pausing at the Border” includes music for a flute, piccolo, piano and a tenor vocalist. The piece has since become part of the standard repertory for the John Ollom Dance Company in New York City. In April 2013, ALRY Publications in Seattle published “Pausing at the Border,” which can be found on the publisher’s website.
As part of the fall 2012 Honors Colloquium series, Register premiered his latest finished work, “The Silence Flowering its Birdsong.” Arranged for an English horn, piano and a tenor vocalist, “Silence Flowering” is based on the poetry of Clarion University English professor Dr. Phil Terman. Minnesota-based Jeanné Publications published the composition in April 2013 and has made it available through its website.
Both of Register’s recently published pieces are graded at the advanced level, intended for skilled, veteran performers.
