Part-time On-line MBA Admissions

Admission Criteria and Procedure

Admission to the Clarion part-time M.B.A. is limited to those candidates who can demonstrate a high promise of success in the program.  The M.B.A. program examines several indicators for potential success that include the following:

  • Completion of a baccalaureate degree program with a minimum cumulative quality-point average (QPA) of 2.75 (based on a 4.00 system), a minimum cumulative QPA of 2.75 in the last 60 hours of the baccalaureate program, or the completion of 15 or more semester hours of graduate work at an accredited institution with a minimum QPA of 3.00.  Applicants must submit official transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate course work.

  • Starting October 1, 2013, a minimum total score of 450 on the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or the relative equivalent score on the GRE (Click HERE for the GRE to GMAT calculator).  Only applicants for the part-time online (PTOL) program may request a waiver of the GMAT requirement. Those applicants to the part-time online program with advanced professional degrees or five or more years of post-baccalaureate, professional level, work experience may submit a formal request to waive the GMAT requirement.  Again, the GMAT waiver is available only to students in the part-time on-line program (more information is available from the M.B.A. office).

  • A résumé showing prior work experience and/or current employment is required with the application.

  • Communication and leadership skills as documented in the résumé, letters of reference, and/or by an acceptable score on the analytical writing assessment (AWA) of the GMAT.

  • Three letters of recommendation submitted on or with a completed copy of the Clarion University Graduate Program Applicant Recommendation/Evaluation Form.

  • A completed application form and the required $30 application fee.
International applicants presenting transcripts from institutions outside the United States must submit an official Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of 550 or higher on the paper-based exam or 213 or higher on the computer-based exam.  Certified English translations of all transcripts are required. International students are encouraged to consult with our International Studies office.

  • Applicants may be required to submit additional materials deemed important in assessing potential for success in graduate business studies or to submit to an interview before the admission committee.

  • The M.B.A. program has business foundation course requirements.  Students can be admitted to the part-time M.B.A. without having completed all prerequisite foundation courses, but they will not be permitted to register for any particular on-line graduate course unless they meet the specific prerequisites for the course they would like to take.  Business foundation courses are not included in the on-line program.  Please see the M.B.A. curriculum link for more details.

Each applicant must submit the following documents to complete the application (materials do not need to be submitted all at once):

  • Application for Admission Form

  • Application Fee

  • Three Letters of Recommendation on or with the Clarion University form

  • Official GMAT Score Report or an approved request for waiver of the GMAT Score

  • Official Transcript(s)

  • Applicant Résumé

Applicants will be notified if additional materials will be required. More information is available on the graduate admissions page.
