Continuing its commitment to excellence in educating tomorrow’s business leaders for the global economy, Clarion University College of Business Administration received reaccreditation by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International (AACSB), a prestigious designation bestowed on only 5 percent of schools offering a business curriculum.

"AACSB International is the most rigorous accrediting body in the field and has the highest standards in the industry," said Dr. David Hartley, associate dean of the college.

"It affirms the college's commitment to deliver a high-quality business education,” said Dr. Phil Frese, college dean.

ACCSB analyzes faculty qualifications, research and a commitment to stay current on best practices in business. Securing accreditation and reaccreditation is testament to the dedication of all involved.

“This was a full team effort by the department heads, instructors, students and alumni,” Hartley said. “It is a reflection of the quality of our faculty and quality and improvement in our curriculum.”

First accredited in 1998, Clarion has sought and received reaccreditation in 2003 and 2008. The ACCSB also looks at how schools respond to changes in the marketplace. Innovation and trend setting are two important factors in reaccreditation.

“ACCSB also looks at faculty research to ensure they are staying current with issues in the field,” Hartley explained.

ACCSB looks for constant improvement, and Clarion has met this criteria using assessment to make sure students are performing as they should. If this is not the case, the school must show how it addresses this shortfall before reaccreditation can occur.

“We involve all faculty business professionals in developing the curriculum and make sure it is tied to department and university goals,” Hartley said. “We believe strongly in this accreditation and our faculty are committed to this challenge."

“The AACSB International encourages and supports curricula, which focus on global leadership and entrepreneurship,” Frese said. “We live in a global economy. The corporate engines are fed by international trade and innovation provides the platform for our entrepreneurs.”

Clarion University is the high-achieving, nationally recognized, comprehensive university that delivers a personal and challenging academic experience.
