Casey McVay is Continuing Education's Summer Dance Camp Director and Lead Instructor. Camp will be held June 10-12 and consists of many class offerings includingMommy& Me (Creative Movement Class), Beginner and Intermediate Workshops(Featuring a new acrobatics component, as well as ballet, tap, jazz and hiphop), an adult session and professional track session. McVay started formal dance training at the age of 3 at Sigel's School of Dance in Altoona, PA, one of the largest and most successful dance studios in the state of Pennsylvania. Her training was under the direction of Skip Sigel, a top Cecchetti teacher in the state who has danced as a professional with stars such as Frankie Avalon, Ann Miller, and Joel Gray. McVay's dance training consists of ballet and pointe, Cecchetti, tap, jazz, contemporary, modern, theater and hip hop. Her favorite styles of dancing are contemporary and jazz.
In her years as a student, McVay competed and won top awards at numerous Dance Master's of Pennsylvania competitions, danced beside a variety of professionals like Blake McGrath from So You Think You Can Dance and the movie "Chicago", and took master classes from renowned artists. She performed with the Cecchetti Ballet Company of Pennsylvania and the Tom Riley Musical Theater Company.
After graduating from Sigel's, McVay went on to earn a
Bachelor of Science in Mass Media, Arts and Journalism from Clarion University
of Pennsylvania, maintained a leadership role on both the Clarion University
Dance Team and Hip Hop Team, performed during several "Dance
Concerts" at the university, and was hired to perform with "Team
Deck," a group of PA hip-hop artists. Casey's is honored and proud to have
worked with and help train her college dance partner, Christopher McCarthy, in
contemporary jazz. McCarthy has gone on to work with Prince, Celine Dion, Bad
Boys of Dance, Jennifer Lopez and many more. Ever since graduating from CUP,
she has dreamed of sharing her passion for dance with others.
McVay recalls her most memorable performances of all time as
presenting "Tribute to MJ" at Dance Masters, which won a platinum award and 1st
Place Overall for a senior large group as well as playing Brooke Wyndham in
"Legally Blonde: the Musical" at the Barrow Civic Theatre, singing, dancing and

University Admissions and resides in Franklin, PA with her husband and
daughter. McVay surrounds herself with performance art by working with the CU
Dance Team, volunteering at the Barrow-Civic Theatre. She choreographs for the
FUSION competitive team at Studio 22 in Franklin and is the Director of Rogers'
Gymnastics' new Diamond Dance Company in Oil City (DDCShineBright). She recently
choreographed the concert "Rockin' to a Record" with Rachael Mellor
and the Barrow Civic Little Theatre's "Cabaret 2014." Catch her
this summer performing in the "Jammin' for Autism Awareness" event in Bandstand
Park in Franklin on June 11th at 7 p.m.
