Gilbert Neiman Freshmen Scholarship

for entering freshmen in English

What are they?

The Gilbert Neiman Scholarships are monetary awards given by the Clarion University English Department to promising incoming students.  Award money will be applied to tuition or campus room and board costs. The two scholarships amount to $567.50 each.

Who is eligible?

All entering freshmen who have declared a major in English, secondary Education English, or communication arts are eligible.  Students must be enrolled to receive the prize.

How do I apply?

You'll need to submit a piece of writing: a creative work, an expository essay, or a piece of critical writing.  It should be a copy of a paper you've turned in for a grade, complete with your teacher's responses.  You'll also need a recommendation from your senior English teacher and a transcript from your high school.  Enclose these materials with a brief letter that includes your name, address, phone number, e-mail address, and school name.
