The Gilbert Neiman Scholarship for second-semester sophomores in English provides an opportunity to receive up to two years of scholarship support!
WHAT IS IT?
The Gilbert Neiman Scholarship for second-semester sophomores is an award of $567.50. The scholarship will be automatically renewed for a second year if the student remains in good academic standing.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
Applicants must be second-semester sophomore English majors in good academic standing.
HOW AND WHEN DO I APPLY?
To apply, you will need to complete the application form on the back of this sheet and submit a recent sample of critical and/or creative writing from a class paper, report, etc. Applications are due Feb. 26, 2010.
WHEN WILL I KNOW IF I'VE WON?
The department will notify recipients of the award at the middle of April, 2010. Keep in mind that the Clarion University English Department has other awards to offer its majors. If you don't win this time around, there are more opportunities. Good luck!

SECOND-SEMESTER SOPHOMORES
Present second-semester sophomores majoring in Liberal Arts English or Secondary Education English may apply for a scholarship for the 2010-2011 academic year ($567.50). The scholarship will be renewed for a second year provided the recipient remains in good academic standing.
To be considered an eligible candidate, you must:

be a second-semester sophomore majoring in liberal arts English or secondary education English

QPA of, at least, 2.5

submit, in typed form, one or more recent samples of critical and/or creative writing. If these are taken from class papers, reports, etc., the copies must be fresh and free of professor's comments.

fill out the form at the bottom of this page

submit application materials to the English Department secretary. PLEASE BE SURE TO REMOVE ALL NAMES AND IDENTIFYING MARKS FROM THE PAGES OF YOUR WRITING SAMPLE. Deadline: 12 noon, Friday, Feb. 26, 2010.
