Western Pennsylvania Resources

  • Regional Internship Center of Southwestern Pennsylvania (RIC)
    The Regional Internship Center (RIC) of SWPA has been created with the help of the Three Rivers Workforce Investment Board to increase the number of internships and to create a centralized internship system in the region. The RIC actively works with employers, assists them in developing internship programs and connects them to potential interns and regional colleges and universities. Check the RIC web site often for internship opportunities.
  • Pittsburgh Technology Council
    The Pittsburgh Technology Council maintains a database of technology companies seeking interns. A variety of opportunities exist for all majors, not just computer majors. Click on Careers, then Search Internship Opportunities.

Pennsylvania State Government Resources

  • Capital Semester Internship Program
    The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Capital Semester Internship Program allows juniors and seniors to apply their academic experience and knowledge to the challenges of managing the business of government. During the 16-week internship, students gain valuable work experience, earn a salary, and in most cases, gain academic credit toward their degree.   • The Harrisburg Internship Semester (THIS)
    The Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education sponsors a semester-long internship program for an outstanding undergraduate student from each of the 14 system universities. The prestigious internship provides an opportunity for selected interns to gain an applied understanding of how Pennsylvania state government operates by interning in a state government office. In addition to practical experience, each student intern participates in a seminar course (3 credits) held in Harrisburg. A stipend covers the semester cost of room, board, tuition and fees, and transportation. Any major may apply for a THIS internship.   • Pennsylvania Management Associate Program
    The 12-month on-the-job management training program is designed for graduates of master's degree programs who are interested in a career in state government.
