Faculty and Staff Training Opportunities

The Learning Technology Center offers a variety of workshops focused on both the pedagogical and technical information needed to assist faculty in developing rich, interactive learning experiences for students in both online or face-2-face classes. Each semester workshops are announced through the ALL-L listserv via the LTC Newsletter.

Fall 2021 Training Opportunities

To facilitate participation, the LTC offers face-2-face and online training sessions each semester. Registration is not required but is preferred for notification and planning purposes.

Virtual sessions are conducted with Zoom Video Conferencing.

We can provide workshops on topics such as working with the CU Online template, or evaluating your online course using the QM Rubric. Please call the LTC at x1848 or email ltcsupport to discuss possibilities for your training needs.

D2L Assignment tool updates

D2L's Assignment tool has undergone several changes in 2021 including a new create/edit screen, the addition of annotation capability, and a new evaluation screen. 

This session will provide a  high-level overview of changes as well as point out some known issues.  Topics covered will include:

  • Assignments create/edit - tips including selecting the correct grade option, attachments, category update, .html editor
  • Assignments - Annotation feature
  • Assignments - Evaluation updates

This session will be offered in person as well as virtually.

D2L Course Design Q & A

This is an open session for D2L assistance before semester start. Drop in to have your D2L questions answered. After August 23, 2021 Tech Tuesday sessions will take place every Tuesday between 1 - 3 PM. No registration is required for Tech Tuesday.

My Mediasite - D2L and Zoom Integration

My Mediasite is a new tool that has been integrated into D2L/Brightspace, with a simple interface that allows instructors to share, and publish new presentations easily. My Mediasite hosts the videos and has a Brightspace integration that enables faculty to upload videos and embed video content directly within courses.

Now, you can also capture NEW lectures with Zoom and tag the recording directly for a D2L course. To ensure a smooth transition to the My Mediasite platform, please attend training.

Use D2L Discussions for private journaling

D2L discussions now has an option to create a forum for private journaling between instructor and student right inside your course. This session will describe how to create the journaling discussion and will also also cover other enrollment types within D2L Groups.

This session will explore the customization of course home pages as well as introduce custom widgets that can be used on D2L course home pages. In addition, you will learn how to create your own custom widget for your course.
