Bonita is originally from southeastern Kentucky, but also lived and worked in Fairmont,
West Virginia and the Akron, Ohio area. She has been a part of the Clarion community
for 15 years. Bonita, a first-generation college student, earned her degrees from
Fairmont State and West Virginia University. Her undergraduate degree is in Secondary
Education, Biology, General Science and Gifted Education. Her Masters of Science
degree from WVU is in Biology. Bonita has always been involved with helping students
succeed, from her tutoring and Freshman Counselor days at Fairmont State to her teaching
of biology for over two decades. The last 14 of those years have been spent teaching,
mostly Freshmen, here at Clarion University. Bonita is an avid reader, enjoys time
spent outdoors and time with her family. Bonita, along with her husband Bill, currently
live in Shippenville, PA. They have spent over 20 years “coaching” (aka parenting)
their three children: Brooke, Morgan and Caleb.
Ms. Dani McCauley

Dani is a life-time resident of Clarion County, having grown up in New Bethlehem,
PA. She attended Clarion University for her undergraduate degree from Fall 2007 to
Fall 2011. She earned her degree in Secondary Education, English and French Education.
She also attained her Master's degree in Higher Education from Penn State University.
She taught at Ford City High School (Spring 2012), Union High School (Fall 2012-Spring
2015), and Freeport High School (Fall 2015). She also taught Upward Bound Summer
Academy courses for three summers (2012-2014). Dani was excited to become a First-Year
Success Coach in January 2016 because of the opportunity to give back to Clarion and
its students. Dani enjoys outdoor activities, such as hiking, skiing, and playing
fetch with her dogs.
Mr. Matthew Mullen

Matthew has always been familiar with Western Pennsylvania, having grown up in Meadville, PA. He attended Clarion University for his undergraduate degree from 2010 to 2014. During that time, he earned his degree in Communication/Journalism. As a student at Clarion, he was known for his service as a SOAR Mentor and Orientation Leader. Matthew completed his Master’s degree in Student Affairs and Higher Education from IUP (2014-2016) before returning to Clarion University as a First-Year Success Coach in February 2016. Matthew enjoys spending time with friends and family and is an avid Cleveland sports fan.
