Graduate Requirements

___ $40 online application fee with credit card

___Recommendation forms based on your program, please refer to our recommendation requirements

___ Official test scores, where applicable

___ After acceptance, pay the $100 non-refundable deposit to hold your place in your program and enroll in classes. The deposit will be applied to your tuition.

Athletic Training (MS)

  1. Official Transcripts from all colleges/universities attended - including any Graduate level work.
  2. Preferred minimum GPA of 3.0 (out of 4.0)
  3. Completion of the following courses (or their equivalents) with grades of C or better:
  • Two semesters of Anatomy and Physiology with Lab
  • Exercise Physiology
  • Nutrition
  • Biomechanics or Kinesiology
  • General Psychology
  • Statistics
  1. Complete a successful interview with Clarion’s athletic training faculty (invitation only)
  2. Two electronic references
  3. Resume
  4. Evidence of 40 hours of clinical observation
  5. Students who do not consider English to be their primary language are required to submit official TOEFL iBT scores or IELTS score completed in the last 2 years. Minimum scores (TOEFL internet: 79, IELTS 6.5 or higher). 

Business Administration (MBA)

___Official Transcripts from bachelor's institution - including any Graduate level work.

___ Official scores for the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) or Graduate Record Exam (GRE) sent to Graduate Programs at PennWest Clarion. Note: If your undergraduate cumulative G.P.A. is above 3.00, you do not have to submit test scores.

___ Provide a list of your work experience including employer, job title, and years of employment. This information can be included on your resume.


Education (MED) (all concentration areas), Reading Specialist Certification, Early Childhood Teacher Certification

___Official Transcripts from bachelor's institution - including any Graduate level work.

___ Undergraduate minimum quality-point average (QPA) requirement is 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale.

___One copy of your Pennsylvania certification, OR One copy of evidence of teacher certification in another state, OR Professional Goals Statement that addresses the following: (1) describe how the Master of Education program will help you realize some of your professional goals; (2) describe any leadership responsibilities that you have had in your school, school district, or in other educational, professional, or community settings.

___Please include a 1-2 page essay describing your educational background, including an explanation of your interest in our graduate program and a reflection of strengths you will be to our program.

 

Early Childhood Teacher Certification Program

In addition to all requirements listed above under "Education (MED) (all concentration areas)," those applying to the Early Childhood Teacher Certification program must also submit:

___Official Transcripts from bachelor's institution - including any Graduate level work.

___ One copy of an elementary teaching certificate.

___Please include a 1-2 page essay describing your educational background, including an explanation of your interest in our graduate program and a reflection of strengths you will be to our program.

___ Current criminal clearances- Act 33, 34 and FBI.

___ Medical records - TB test, Physical Examination, Required Immunizations. Please note: liability insurance is not a requirement for the ECH Teacher Certification Program.

 

Library Science (MSLS)

___Official Transcripts from bachelor's institution - including any Graduate level work.

___ Goal Statement - a letter describing why you want to pursue the CAS program and your activities since you received your MSLS degree.

 

Clinical Mental Health Counseling (MS)

___Official Transcripts from bachelor's institution 

___Official Graduate Record Exam (GRE) scores or Miller Analogies Test (MAT) scores if QPA is below a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. GRE Test Scores - 275 MAT Test Scores - 350

___Undergraduate minimum quality-point average requirement is 3.0 or above (Provisional admission is possible for students with an undergraduate GPA under 3.0 but above 2.75).

___Letter stating goals for graduate study.

___Ask those who will be submitting your recommendations to document your potential and/or effectiveness in the areas of your teaching ability and/or professional performance.

___Applicants to this program should submit documentation of any prior field experience through human service employment and/or university field experience. This information can be included on the resume.


Speech Language Pathology (MS)

___Official Transcripts from all colleges/universities attended - including any Graduate level work.

___Writing proficiency as demonstrated by a one-page letter of intent.

___Ask those who will be submitting your recommendations to document your potential and/or effectiveness in the areas of your teaching ability and/or professional performance. Note: PennWest Clarion, graduating seniors in speech pathology are not required to submit letters of recommendation.

___Twelve semester hours of credit in courses related to normal development and the sciences related to the use of speech, hearing, and language; three credits in speech pathology, three credits in language disorders, six credits in audiology, including three credits in aural rehabilitation, three credits in augmentative and alternative communication; 25 clinical observation hours; three credits in statistics; three credits in behavioral/social sciences; three credits in biological sciences; three credits in physical sciences; and three credits in mathematics. (Students may make up undergraduate deficiencies.)

Nursing (MSN)

___Official Transcripts from all colleges/universities attended - including any Graduate level work.

___Earned baccalaureate degree in nursing from an accredited program.

___Copy/photo/scan of current nursing license.

___Licensure as a registered nurse in the state where the student plans to complete clinical practicum.

___Undergraduate QPA of 3.0 on a 4.00 scale or a graduate QPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (if seeking second M.S.N. degree).

___One year of recent full-time clinical practice or two years of part-time clinical practice (2,000 hours).

___Resume of professional experience Completed Requirement Summary sheet.

Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)

___Official Transcripts from all colleges/universities attended - including any Graduate level work.

___Master of Science in Nursing degree.

___National certification as an advanced practice nurse.

___Copy/photo/scan of current nursing license.
___Unencumbered, current license to practice as an advanced practice nurse in the state where internship hours will take place.

___Verification of a minimum of 500 supervised clinical hours from the applicant's graduate program; and
Graduate GPA > 3.25.

___Copy of Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Nursing licenses in the state where the applicant plans to complete internship hours.

___A type-written 1-2 page personal statement describing your learning goals.
