External Scholarships

Many scholarships exist for members of the military. Clarion University offers a four-year Army ROTC program. Any students interested in the ROTC program can apply for Army ROTC scholarships.

Pennsylvania National Guard members also can get full tuition and additional benefits.

Other scholarships that benefit the military or veterans include:

• African American Scholarships and Grants - EduBirdie is a writing platform that features scholarships and grants for African American students. A variety of requirements apply, dependent upon the particular scholarship or grant.
• Ankin Law Office Scholarship for Military Veterans - The Ankin Law Office is offering a $1,000 scholarship to those who have served in the military. Among other criteria, students must describe what you learned during your military career that will help you achieve great things in your civilian life in 500 words or less. Discuss how this applies to your chosen educational field.
• Ankin Law Office Scholarship for Disabled Veterans - Ankin Law Office is offering a $1,000 scholarship to a veteran with disabilities. Among other criteria, students must discuss what Americans can do to help meet those specific needs of disabled veterans that you feel aren't currently being met in 500 words or less.
• Association of Bookmobile & Outreach Services - ABOS sponsors three scholarships for students in the field of library and information sciences and who are particularly interested in bookmobile services.
• Bernard Vavrek Scholarship - This $1,000 scholarship was created in honor of Dr. Bernard Vavrek, retired professor of Library Science and former chair of the Library Science Department at Clarion University. The scholarship will be awarded annually to a student who is currently enrolled and has completed at least one semester in a library and/or information science graduate degree program, and who is interested in this particular field within the library profession.
• Bonsai Finance Veteran's Scholarship - The Bonsai Finance Veteran’s Scholarship provides a one-time $1,000 scholarship to a veteran or active duty member of the U.S. Military service, or a direct dependent. To apply, submit a short essay responding to the prompted questions. Scholarship decisions are based solely on an applicant’s essay response.
• Chisholm Chisholm & Kilpatrick's Child of Disable Veteran Scholarship - The law firm of Chisholm Chisholm & Kilpatrick LTD will award a $1,000 scholarship to one deserving applicant whose parent has a service-connected disability.
• eLearners Scholarship - This $1,000 scholarship is available for veterans, active duty, and, uniquely, spouses of veterans. The only other requirements include a brief essay.
• Gilman-McCain Scholarship - The U.S. Department of State's Gilman-McCain Scholarship provides awards of $5,000 for child dependents of active duty service members to study or intern abroad on credit-bearing programs. The scholarship is open to eligible students enrolled at accredited U.S. colleges and universities who receive any type of Title IV federal financial aid.
• Graduate Technology Scholarship for Military Veterans - This scholarship is awarded to 10 recipients, two times per year at $1,000 each (veterans or veteran's spouses/partner and children) to students seeking a graduate education in an accredited degree program related to technology. Applicants also are required to write a 500-word or less essay using provided essay prompts.
• Jewish War Veterans National Achievement Program Scholarships - The 2016 Jewish War Veterans National Achievement Program Scholarships are available for U.S. current service members and veterans who plan to attend or are currently attending an accredited associate's, bachelor's, nursing or graduate-degree program.
• Marine GySgt. John D. Fry Scholarship - The Fry Scholarship pays education benefits to the surviving spouses and children of service members who died in the line of duty after Sept. 10, 2001. Like Post-9/11 veterans, eligible surviving spouses and children attending school may receive full tuition coverage at state-operated colleges and universities, plus a monthly living stipend and book allowance under this program. To apply, complete and submit a VA Form 22-5490. 
• MilitaryBases.com Scholarship - This $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to the applicant who best answers in 500 words or less what serving your country means to you, and how this little extra help from MilitaryBases.com would help you achieve your education goals and dreams.
• NorthAmerican.com Military Scholarship - Upon the contest's completion, two winners will be chosen to receive an award of $1,000 each. In addition to other requirements, applicants must submit a brief essay of between 400 and 800 words, detailing why a career in logistics/supply chain management is your college major of choice.
• OurMilitary.com annual Veteran Recognition Scholarship - This $1,000 annual scholarship is  for one undergraduate student who is either an active service member or veteran, a military spouse, or the child of an active service member or veteran. Applicants must write write a 500-1,000-word essay answering the following question: How has your affiliation with the military community impacted your education and/or learning?
• Personal Money Service Scholarship for Veterans - This one-time $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to the veteran who successfully explains why they should be awarded this scholarship and also completes a small list of tasks.
• QuantHub's Diversity in Data Science Scholarship - To be eligible for this $1,000 scholarship applicants must meet the following requirements: 1.) Be of an ethnic minority and residing in the United States; 2.) Be enrolled full or part-time in a relevant undergraduate or graduate degree program in the United States during the 2019-2020 school year – data science, business analytics, statistics or computer science, or computer information systems. Applicants also must provide one letter of recommendation
• QuantHub's Women in Data Science Scholarship - To be eligible for this $1,000 scholarship applicants must meet the following requirements: 1.) Be of a female residing in the United States (non-Citizen OK with visa); 2.) Be enrolled full or part-time in a relevant undergraduate or graduate degree program in the United States during the 2019-2020 school year – data science, business analytics, statistics or computer science, or computer information systems. Applicants also must provide one letter of recommendation.
• Study.com Scholarship for Military Veterans - This scholarship will provide a $500 academic award to a military veteran pursuing a bachelor's degree. Students from any branch of the military and all areas of study will be considered and selection will be based on academic history and extracurricular activities. 
• Veterans Benefits Scholarship - Three $2,000 scholarships available to students enrolled in an associate's degree, bachelor's degree or graduate level program at an accredited 2-year college or 4-year university.
  
• Veterans and Military Family Scholarship - The team at George Sink, P.A. Injury Lawyers is offering a $1,000 scholarship to a hard-working U.S. college student who is an active duty service member, a veteran, or a spouse or child of an active duty or retired service member. Applicants must also submit a 500-1,000-word essay on one of the available essay prompts.

Even if you don't qualify for PASSHE or military awards, there are other avenues you can investigate in order to fund your education. The following is a list of non-profits, organizations and philanthropies that award scholarship money:

• ABC Fundraising Volunteer Recognition College Scholarship - To receive this $2,500 scholarship, students must write an 800-1000-word essay reflecting on your volunteer and fundraising experience.
• Academic Hero Scholarship - Course Hero, an education technology company, is offering a $10,000 merit-based scholarship. Students are asked to write a 500-word essay for consideration.
• Altec Design Web Scholarship - This $750 scholarship will go the applicant who successfully writes no more than 1,000 words on the topic is "How do you foresee the internet changing your chosen career in the next 20 years?"
• Alluvia STEM in Business Scholarship - This $1,000 scholarship aims to promote the education of students with a passion for STEM by offering a financial award toward their studies. In order to apply, applicants must write a 1,000-word minimum essay answering a series of provided questions.
• A-1 Auto Transport Scholarship - A-1 Auto Transport is offering a $1,000 scholarship to current, full time or part-time students of an accredited institute and have a GPA of 3.0 and complete an essay.
• Abbott and Fenner - The A&F $1,000 scholarships are available to all high school juniors and seniors as well as all students currently registered in any accredited post secondary institution.
• Adept Golf Scholarship - This $500 scholarship was created for all college and university students with an interest in golf. Students are to write a 500-word essay on any topic concerning golf that you choose.
• Alaska Library Association Scholarship - To receive this $4,000 scholarship, applicants must be an Alaskan resident who is eligible for acceptance, is currently enrolled, or will be a student in a graduate school library media specialist certificate program during the academic year, semester, or academic quarter for which the scholarship is received. The applicant also must make a commitment to work in an Alaska library for a minimum of one year after graduation as a paid employee or a volunteer, or for two semesters for one semester's financial assistance.
• Alcohol.org Behavioral Health Academic Scholarship - This scholarship will have three winners with the first place being awarded $5,000 and second and third places each receiving $2,500. Applicants must write a 500-word essay based on the writing prompt: "If you woke up tomorrow and you were president of the United States, what is the first thing you would do to help with the current opioid crisis?"
• Allied Van Lines Scholarship - Three $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to students whose area of study focuses on logistics and moving-related fields. Students should submit a brief essay of between 400 and 800 words, detailing why a career in logistics/supply chain management is your college major of choice.
• Alumni Association Scholarship - The Alumni Association, through the Clarion University Foundation, Inc., has available Scholarship and Leadership Awards for undergraduate students. Special consideration will be given to children and grandchildren of Clarion University alumni, as well as members of the Eagle Ambassador student alumni group. Scholarships are awarded up to $1,000 in the form of a tuition credit, with half the amount applied in the fall and the other half in the spring.
• APSCUF Scholarship - Six $500 scholarships will be awarded to Clarion University students currently enrolled for the Spring 2019 semester. The application process includes a one-page narrative outlining goals and objectives for the future.
• ASDSO Scholarship - Scholarship in the amount of between $5,000 and $10,000 are available to students enrolled full-time at the senior level (during the 2016/2017 school year) in an accredited civil engineering program, or in a related field as determined by ASDSO, and must demonstrate an interest in pursuing a career in hydraulics, hydrology or geotechnical disciplines, or in another discipline related to the design, construction and operation of dams.
• AUA Physician Diversification Award - This $50,000 scholarship will be awarded in the amount of $5,000 per semester for the entire college of medicine program. All applicants must successfully write essay of no more than 500 words as well as meet other requirements.
• AvaCare Medical Scholarship - The AvaCare Medical Scholarship recognizes students who are pursuing a degree in the medical field, with a prize of $1,000 toward college tuition. Submissions for entry can either be an essay, image or video clip.
• Beacon Scholarship for Rural America - The Beacon® Scholarship for Rural America will award $1,000 scholarships to one winner in the spring and two winners in the fall semester, to graduating high school seniors, current college students, or adult learners planning to enroll in an accredited college program during the 2019 – 2020 academic year. Applicants should write a 750-word essay responding to the prompt: "What does patriotism mean to you, and how do you believe patriotism can help communities across America?"
• Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship - This scholarship is for students enrolling in overseas programs. Essays are part of the application process.
• BestReviewsList Internet and Technology Scholarship - This $2,000 scholarship will be awarded to the student who successfully writes an original 1,500-word best reviews essay with a topic of their choice.
• Beth DeBouvre Scholarship - This $1,000 scholarship will help one (female) student lessen the burden of university tuition. Applicants must submit a 700-850-word essay answering the following question: "Are higher salaries better than other incentives for motivating workers?"
• Bold.org College Journalism Grant - This $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to the student who writes the best 500-1,000-word essay based on some journalism-related essay prompts.
• Bridge Builders - Bridge Builders is a community foundation encompassing Clarion, Venango, Forest and parts of Jefferson Counties and has many scholarships.
  
• Big Data Science & Analytics bi-annual Scholarship - MastersofBusinessAnalytics.com is offering a bi-annual $2,000 scholarship to students who plan to pursue or are currently working toward a bachelor's or master's degree in data science or related field. Individuals must be enrolled full-time or part-time, in the current year in a relevant U.S.-based campus or online degree program, such as computer information systems, business analytics, data science, data analytics, math/statistics, or computer science. A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required and an essay must be written on a supplied topic.
• Big Moods Scholarship - With the goal of raising public awareness of mental health, Big Moods is annually offering a $500 scholarship presented to college students who have experienced mental illness. To apply, applicants must write a 800-1,500 blog post on mental health, whether that's about your personal experiences, tips for coping, or general awareness for mental illness in college.
• Biology Dictionary Scholarship - Biology Dictionary wants to award a scholarship of $1,000 to a student of any major who successfully writes on one of three biology-based topics.
• B.J. Smith College Scholarship (American Society of Highway Engineers) - The number and amount ($500 minimum) of scholarships will be based onannual fund raising and the number of worthy applications received. This is aone-time scholarship that is not renewed annually.
• BrightStar Systems Future Technologies Scholarship - This $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to one undergraduate student who can display how technology has changed their life by writing a 1,000-1,500-word essay answering a series of questions.
• Buck Beneschott Native American Scholarship - This $1,000 scholarship is open to the Native American student who successfully writes an essay about themselves and how they plan to make a positive impact on the world in their career after college.
• Bud Lutty Scholarship - Five people will receive this $2,000 scholarship.
• Buhl Regional Health Foundation Scholarships - The Buhl Regional Health Foundation offers three $1,000 (one-year) scholarships for high school seniors and four $3,000 (one-year) scholarships for college students. Applicants must live in the Buhl Regional Health Foundation's service area and fulfill a variety of other requirements.
• BuildFire Scholarship - This scholarship provides $1,000 to two students attending or planning to attend a university in the upcoming semester to recipients who have a 3.5 GPA or higher.
• Caitlan Wallace Memorial Scholarship - In order to receive this $1,000 scholarship, students must successfully write a 500-2,000-word essay based on topic: "The advent of safe phones, texting, and social media has led to an increase of traffic accidents due to distracted driving."
• Calkain Real Estate Scholarship - The goal of this $1,000 scholarship is to encourage a career path in commercial real estate. The scholarship will be awarded to one full-time undergraduate or graduate student majoring in real estate or a related field. Selection is based on academic excellence and understanding of the field; preference is given to students with an interest in a career path working within the single tenant net lease market.
• Cameron Impact Scholarship - This four-year, merit-based scholarship (intended to cover the full tuition and qualified educational expenses — as defined by the Internal Revenue Service) at the recipient's chosen collegiate institution (estimated to be between $20,000-$50,000 per annum). The recipients will be 10-15 high school students and must meet necessary criteria and fill out an application.
• Caregiver Connection Scholarship - This $1,000 scholarship is open to any student in any major, although this scholarship is ideal for students enrolled in any health care major including but not limited to: nursing, physical therapy, dental hygiene, health care administration, health sciences, pre-med, speech language pathology, etc. Applicants must write an 800-word essay about how your major affects senior care and how you can improve senior living through your area of study. 
• Career Enjoyment Scholarship - This $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to the person who successfully writes an 800-word essay on specific career planning strategies.
• Careers in Coding Contest - Bugsnag is proud to offer the $1,000 Careers in Coding Contest for code camp, college, or vocational students who wish to pursue a career in computer engineering and software development. The contest is limited to computer science, software engineering and development majors, or code camp programs.
• Caring.com Scholarship - Two scholarships of $1,500 are awarded each year to student-caregivers to help cover costs of tuition and books. Interested students can submit either a 1,500-word essay or a two-minute video addressing three provided questions. In addition to the essay or video, applicants must complete an online application.
• CDPAP Department of Edison Home Health Care - To apply for this $1,000 annual scholarship, write a 500– 1,000-word essay outlining what you would do to improve healthcare.
• CellWaves Scholarship - This $1,000 scholarship will be given to the student who successfully writes an essay of no more than 1,000 words about their ideas on how wireless innovations may evolve 10 years in the future to change the way we live, play, communicate, socialize, or advance our thinking. 
• Center for Scholarship Administration - The Center for Scholarship Administration administers 36 different scholarships with various deadlines.
• Central Infusion Alliance Scholarship - Central Infusion Alliance is awarding a $1,000 scholarship to the successful applicant who writes the best essay of how a healthcare worker has made a difference in your life or the life of someone close to you.
• Central Scholarship & Loan Referral Service - The Central Scholarship and Loan Referral Service of the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh coordinates the efforts of a group of organizations, agencies and scholarship endowment funds that provide scholarships to local Jewish students enrolled in an accredited institution of higher education. Please note: Deadline extended.
• CGTrader Scholarship - CGTrader's goal is to challenge students to dig into the field of technology by writing different essays on how innovative technologies are transforming our lives. This year's topic is "using games for social good and playful learning." The best submission will be awarded $2,000 while the two runners-up will receive $500 each.
• Charlie Batch Foundation -  Several scholarships will be awarded to students who have permanent residence status in western Pennsylvania. 
• Clarion APSCUF Fall 2019 Scholarship - Every fall semester, the local APSCUF chapter awards six $500 scholarships to currently enrolled CU students. 
• Clean Athletic Performance Scholarship - This $2,500 scholarship will be awarded to the entrant that best expresses their thoughts on the use of performance enhancing drugs in sport (this refers to the use of both illegal and non-prescription pharmaceuticals).
• Clearfield County Conservation District Scholarship - Students from Clearfield County in an environmental field relating to conservation, forestry or agriculture are invited to apply for this scholarship. 
• Clinical Guard Scholarship - Clinical Guard is offering a $1,000 scholarship to the student who in 500-1,000-words writes about one three proposed topics and meets other requirements.
• CNA Scholarship Program - This scholarship aims to fill a need that is in high demand as well as educate America's growing work force.
• Coca-Cola Scholars Program - One hundred and fifty Coca-Cola Scholars are selected each year.  Students must be a current high school (or home-schooled) senior attending schools in the United States (of DOD Schools); be U.S.citizens, U.S. nationals; U.S. permanent residents; refugees; asylees; Cuban-Haitian entrants or humanitarian parolees anticipating high school completion at the time of application; planning to pursue a degree at an accredited U.S. post-secondary institution and carry a minimum 3.0 GPA at the end of their junior year in high school.
• codePost Computer Science Education Scholarship - This $500 scholarship will be awarded to the student who best demonstrates through a 300-500-word essay how they have advanced computer science education at their university or within your community.
• Colonial Ghosts Scholarship - This sponsorship offers an annual $1,000 education scholarship for students majoring in Marketing.  
• Communications for Research - Communications for Research is offering an annual market research scholarship where the winner of an essay contest will receive $1,000 toward their tuition.
• Community Foundation For The Alleghenies - This organization helps students from Bedford, Cambria, Franklin, Fulton, Indiana, Somerset and Westmoreland Counties find scholarships.
• Community Foundation of Warren County - This foundation awards scholarships from a number of funds for talented students from Warren County, Pennsylvania pursuing post-secondary education.
• Community Foundation of Western Pennsylvania and Eastern Ohio - This foundation has a listing of scholarships available to students attending Mercer County, Pennsylvania, high schools who want to pursue post-secondary education.
• Comprehensive Guide to Healthcare Scholarships - This free guide is offered by medicalfieldcareers.com and offers a variety of scholarships for students in the healthcare field. Students must fill out an online application.
• Computer Science Education Scholarship - This $500 scholarship will be awarded to the student currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in computer science (or related field). Applicants must demonstrate a passion for computer science education among other requirements.
• Coupons Plus Deals Scholarship - Coupons Plus Deals is offering one $3,000 scholarship to the successful student who writes an essay about how to save money in their daily life.
• Course Hero Merit-Based Scholarship - Course Hero offers two scholarships valued at $10,000 and $5,000 to the students who successfully complete and essay from a provided prompt.
• Crawford County Scholarships - College Connection has compiled a list of 20 scholarships available to students from Crawford County. Applications and requirements differ.
• Create and Go Scholarship - This $2,000 scholarship will be given to the student who successfully writes a 1,000-word essay answering the provided questions about blogging.
• Credit Soup Scholarship - Credit Soup is offering a $1,000 scholarship to the applicant who successfully writes a 400-to-800-word essay detailing why you chose your major or the importance of your field of study.
• Dealhack Community Volunteer Scholarship - Every year we award a $1,500 scholarship to the student who best demonstrates exceptional volunteer involvement in their community.
• Dell Scholars Program - The Dell Scholars Program is offering scholarships for students who show grit, potential and ambition.
• Developintelligence.com - A new $1,000 annual scholarship is being offered for any student majoring in a computer science field.  Awardees will be announced every summer. 
• Discover Student Loans Scholarship Awards -  Eligible undergraduate students can enter to win one of the $2,500 scholarships from Discover Student Loans.
• Diversity Career Group Scholarship - This $1,500 scholarship will be awarded to the student who successfully writes an essay of 750-1,500 words on the following subject: What are the most effective methods to market yourself to employers and how can employers better appeal to prospective candidates?
• DocuTAP Scholarship - DocuTAP is offering five annual scholarships to college students. These scholarships require a 500-800 word essay submission, and the winning applicants will receive $1,000 dollars toward their costs of education.
  
• Driver Education Initiative Scholarship - National Driving and Traffic School is seeking to reward essay applicants $3,000 in scholarships (for students entering college or already enrolled in a higher education institution) on the topic of being a safer driver. The topic of this year's essay submissions deals with the serious implications of being a driver.
• Drug, Alcohol and Mental Behavioral Treatment Scholarship - The Addiction Recovery Centers Humanitarian Scholarship Program will provide up to $1,500 to a student, who wants to use their education to better lives of others. All scholarship applicants must compose a 500-word, double-spaced essay revealing how these funds will help in your personal quest for higher learning.
• Education.com Scholarship Program - This scholarship program is for aspiring teachers. There are three scholarship programs with one valued at $10,000, and two others each valued at $5,000. Each scholarship has its own application requirements and parameters.
• Erie Community Foundation Scholarship - The Erie Community Foundation is home to 90 donor named scholarships, and each has its own eligibility and criteria requirements. Many scholarships target students graduating from specific high schools, some for specific areas of study and others for financial need. Each scholarship is unique according to its donor's wishes, and each offers the opportunity to earn a scholarship for your education.
• EveryNurse Nursing Scholarhips - EveryNurse offers five scholarships for nursing students including one $2,000 award each for an RN student, a man in nursing and a nurse practitioner, and $2,500 each for a minority nurse and a graduate nurse. Applicants must be eligible and comply with all official rules.
• ExtremeTerrain Student Scholarship - ExtremeTerrain is offering two $3,000 scholarships, one for the fall semester and one for the spring Semester, to eligible students pursuing a degree in environmental studies, environmental research, land use, earth and atmosphere studies, sustainable land management, parks and recreation, or sustainable agriculture systems. Students should submit a 700–1,500 word essay to scholarships@extremeterrain.com that describes who you are, why you feel it is important to maintain access to public lands for recreational use and how you plan to use your degree to advocate for the recreational use of public lands.
• FairShake Scholarship for Consumer Protection Advocacy - This scholarship is intended for promising undergraduates with an interest in using the law to protect consumer rights. Two awards of $1,000 will be presented to outstanding undergraduates, who successfully write 500 words on an issue facing American consumers and potential solutions.
• FamilyAssets Scholarship - One $3,000 scholarship will be awarded to a deserving student that has shown their own passion for providing care for an elderly person in need. The student should also have ideas on how long-term care can be adapted to better suit the needs of seniors and be prepared to write a 1,500-word essay addressing specific questions on the topic.
• Feldco Windows, Siding and Doors Scholarship - Feldco Windows, Siding and Doors is awarding a $1,000 scholarship to a current or prospective college student who submits a winning essay on the topic, "How has your family contributed to who you are today?"
• Fisher Investments Invest in Your Future Scholarship - Twice per year, the Fisher Investments "Invest in Your Future" College Scholarship Program will award $5,000 to one college student who is demonstrating financial literacy skills and a commitment to achieving their financial goals. In addition to meeting application requirements, students also must complete a 500-word essay on the topic of financial planning.
• Food Stamps Now Scholarship - This $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to the student who successfully writes an essay 1,000-plus words on the topic of "how the United States can win the battle against hunger."
• Frank D. and Clara R. Williams Scholarship - The Frank D. and Clara R. Williams Scholarship Program has been established to recognize residents of Venango County.
• Frank L. Greathouse Government Accounting Scholarship - The Frank L. Greathouse Government Scholarship is available for award to two graduate or undergraduate students enrolled in full-time study preparing for a career in state and local government finance.  The scholarship is for $8,000.
• Frugal for Less Scholarship - This $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to the person who can show frugal creativity by writing in 800 words or less the most creative, strange or interesting way that you've made or saved money in the past year.
• Fundera College Scholarship - Fundera will award $2,000 for the best entry every semester. Among other requirements, students must record a three-minute video responding to the question: "Imagine you've just started up a small business in your hometown. How do you strategically grow your business without spending much money? Be as specific and creative as possible."
• Future Innovators Scholarship Program - Equal access to education is one of the main pillars of StudySoup's values. To further propagate access to education for all, StudySoup recently announced a $2,000 scholarship for outstanding students enrolling in or continuing to pursue education opportunities. 
• Future Female Leaders Scholarship - StudySoup is offering a $2,000 scholarship to one outstanding female student who's exhibited extraordinary leadership skills and an ability to empower others.
• Gatekeeper Scholarship - This $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to the applicant who successfully writes a 1,000-1,500-word essay which explores the topic: How are AI and automation software changing students' expectations about their future employment?
• George M. Pullman Foundation Educational Scholarship - This $10,000 scholarship is given each year for up to four years to successful applicants who also reside in Cook County, Illinois. • Microsoft DisAbility Scholarship - A $5,000 scholarship for high school seniors planning to attend a two-year or four-year university or college program. Applicants must be living with a disability, have financial need and plan to major in engineering, computer science, or a legal or business-related major.  
• Rise Scholarship Foundation -  Five $2,500 scholarships will be awarded to current high school seniors planning to attend college in the next year. Applicants must have a documented learning disability.
• Scholarships and Resources for Students with Disabilities - Student Training & Education in Public Service offers this resource for students with disabilities to find funding, advocacy organizations, networking opportunities, and other support that make paying for and getting through college easier.
• Through the Looking Glass Scholarship - Available to students who have parents with disabilities and who may have a disability themselves. A total of 15 awards of $1,000 will be given to high school and college students.
• Transtutors Scholarship - Three $1,000 winners will be selected upon writing a successful essay on the topic of stress and mental health on campus and how colleges and universities can better handle it.

• Boren Awards - The Boren Awards feature scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students.
• Gilman-McCain Scholarship - The U.S. Department of State's Gilman-McCain Scholarship provides awards of $5,000 for child dependents of active duty service members to study or intern abroad on credit-bearing programs. The scholarship is open to eligible students enrolled at accredited U.S. colleges and universities who receive any type of Title IV federal financial aid.

While many of the previous scholarships are only open to high school or current undergraduate students, there are other private scholarships that are only available for graduate students.

• Bridging the Dream Scholarships - Four students will win $20,000 each for successfully sharing their unique path to graduate school and the dreams they hope to accomplish with their degree.
• Brightest Minds Contest - The Economist is sponsoring a $25,000 scholarship and entry involves taking a full-length GMAT practice test.
• Minority Nursing Scholarship - GradSchools.com is offering a $2,000 scholarship to a student of color (African American, Asian, Hispanic, Native American, Pacific Islander) who successfully writes an essay of 250 words or less that answers the following question: What personal or professional goals do you hope to achieve through a Nursing program?
• Sallie Mae Graduate Scholarships - This database helps graduate students find scholarships.
