Peter Fackler, who has worked in university finance and administration for almost 30 years, was appointed Clarion University's interim vice president for finance and administration. He will serve from Nov. 12, 2012, to June 30, 2014, and is filling a vacancy left by Paul Bylaska, who will transition to work as an administrative fellow in the Office of the Provost before his retirement next year.
"I am very impressed with Peter Fackler's expertise and enthusiasm," said Dr. Karen M. Whitney, Clarion University's president. I look forward to his joining the university for his 20-month appointment as our interim vice president for finance and administration."
Fackler's three major objectives for the next twenty months are:
· To be the chief financial officer of the university.
· To ensure the smooth and responsible operation of the Division of Finance and Administration.
· To effect organizational change within the division in response to a recent program review and accreditation review, and pursue best practices to ensure that the division is advancing the mission, vision, values and goals of the university.
"I am honored to be chosen to serve as Clarion University's interim vice president for finance and administration," said Fackler. "I will do all in my power to advance the cause of this fine university and to work collaboratively with faculty, staff and students in leading the finance and administration division."
Fackler received his undergraduate degree in economics from Duke University and later obtained a Master's of Business Administration from the University of Michigan. He has also pursued post-graduate study at Columbia University and Harvard University.
After being awarded his M.B.A., Fackler worked in finance and administration at four different colleges and universities, including the School of Visual Arts and Alfred University in New York; Bates College in Maine; and West Chester University, a fellow PASSHE school.
Fackler was placed by the Registry for College and University Presidents, a national firm that specializes in interim executive placements in higher education.
