Student Leader Empowerment Program

SLEP is all online in fall 2016!

Clarion University's Student Leader Empowerment Program (SLEP) is moving to an all online format to offer more well-rounded training for current and potential campus leaders. After fully developing the content of our student leader training program. This year, the program will be full contained in D2L and available to students at all campuses!

SLEP is a series of workshops offered every semester to enhance students' basic leadership skills. There are seven SLEP workshops: ethical decision making, diversity awareness, group dynamics, conflict resolution, effective meeting management, planning and goal setting, and budget management. Each session includes online videos, some enhancements, and a short assessment at the end of each meeting. Students who maintain an average of 80% on the assessments and complete at least six of the seven sessions will receive student leader certification.

Students enrolled at Clarion University can participate in the program through D2L. In order to register for the program, send and email to mwleadership@clarion.edu, with your name and CU email address.

SLEP is a great series for students who are interested in getting more involved on campus through Recognized Student Organizations (RSOs), campus jobs, and other leadership opportunities. The series is an excellent program for members and newly elected officers of RSOs to attend if they have not done so already. Student leadership skills are learned and reinforced in ways that can help their organizations grow and become more productive.

Students who successfully complete the program will receive certificates at the Reinhard Awards Ceremony in the spring, or they can be received through email. To register for SLEP, click here and submit your name, email address, and phone number in the email window. You will receive a confirmation email in return.
