MASTER OF SCIENCE IN SPECIAL EDUCATION

Clarion University’s Department of Special Education is offering a completely online program that leads to a Master of Science in Special Education degree. The 33-credit program is designed for individuals who already hold special education certification and wish to expand their knowledge of the field.

SPED 571: Community Adjustment-Futures Planning for Students with Disabilities (3)
SPED 597: Collaboration and Cooperation: Improved Teaching and Learning Outcomes (3)
SPED 620: Role Development with Parents (3)
SPED 632: Policy and Practice in Special Education (3)
SPED 635: Advanced Methods for Persons with Autism and Severe Disabilities (3)
OR
SPED 636: Advanced Methods for Persons with High Incidence Disabilities (3)

3 credits from:
SPED 700: Thesis or other 3-credit Special Education elective

Online Instruction Endorsement

Students, parents and local education agencies are selecting alternate options for student learning. Clarion’s online instruction endorsement program will provide educators with essential tools to engage students in online learning environments. The program is approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. Successful candidates will receive the Online Instruction Program PK-12 Endorsement from PDE.

Add a 12-credit endorsement to an existing level I or level II teaching certificate.

ED 400/500: Foundations of Distance Learning
ED 407/507: Assessment for Online Learning
ED 540: Principles of Instructional Design
ED 513: Advanced Online Instruction
