Clarion University’s Online Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling
ranks 14th as Most Affordable Master’s in Counseling Online in the nation.
SR Education Group gave Clarion this distinction.
According to SR Education Group, "To be considered for these subject rankings, schools need to be regionally accredited and need to offer at least one fully online degree in a given subject for the degree level of the list. Tuitions were manually researched and reflect the degree level of the list. Out-of-state tuitions were used unless in-state tuition is offered to all online students."
The 60-credit hour clinical mental health counseling program is designed to meet the requirements established by the board for the Licensed Professional Counselor credential in Pennsylvania. This program is aimed at graduate students who are looking to enhance their clinical skills and career options by taking courses that can lead to eligibility for counseling licensure.
Graduates can work in a wide range of human service areas including: direct service or supervisory roles in children and youth, juvenile delinquency, court supervision, intellectual disabilities, substance abuse/dual diagnosis, psychiatric rehabilitation and/or gerontology.
The M.S. clinical mental health counseling program offers curriculum in areas of: assessment, case management, group therapy, therapeutic interventions, crisis interventions, ethics, cultural foundations and clinical instruction. Coursework is offered entirely online with a few courses offered in a hybrid format that require face-to-face instruction in a one-week long summer residency annually.
The online M.S. in clinical mental health counseling is intended for students who are pursuing careers in human services, e.g., those working with individuals diagnosed with mental health problems, individuals diagnosed with addiction problems, elderly citizens, persons with developmental disabilities in residential and day program settings, adult and juvenile offenders, and in public and private human service agencies.
