CU's ASN program ranked third in Pennsylvania

October 29, 2019

Clarion University’s Associate of Nursing program is the third-ranked program in Pennsylvania according to NursingProcess.org.

"The ASN program in Clarion University of Pennsylvania prepares students not only for the patient care aspect, but also for the other technical aspects of the course like administrative paperwork," NursingProcess.org states on its website.

"Their two-year program has classes that give experiences in order to promote a diverse set of skills that include nursing judgment and professional identity. After passing the NCLEX and becoming an RN, employers may offer financial support for higher nursing degrees if you're interested in attaining a higher level of education in nursing. Classes also encourage an inquisitive outlook to better prepare students for the duties of an RN," the website stated.

In this 2020 ranking, Clarion University is the top school from the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education to make the cut and the No. 1 school in western Pennsylvania.

Clarion's ASN program prepares technical nurses to provide client-centered care. Students work within structured settings and with other members of the health care team.

The two-year Associate of Science in Nursing Program provides educational experiences that promote:

  • Human flourishing
  • Nursing judgment
  • Professional identity
  • A spirit of inquiry

Graduates of the program are eligible to take the National Council Licensure Exam for RNs (NCLEX-RN®). Successful completion of the exam is required for entrance into nursing practice. Students in the program enjoy the support of their peers as they take many of the same courses together. The curriculum in the two-year program offered at Clarion University — Venango and at the Somerset County Education Center is high paced with hands-on clinical patient care experiences in the first semester.
